a memorial to our gathering at Arohas

This post is dedicated to one of the eight saplings planted on May-12 2019 morning during the final hours of the gathering of friends at Arohas Eco Hill Resort near Sakaleshpur. We were a group of 22 friends from St. Charles Borromeo School, Bhadravati.

This is Srini, one of the organizers of the gathering. He's talking to the Pannerlegida planted by himself three years ago. I guess the plant's age is 4 years, assuming that it was already 1YO when it was brought here.

Being a Malnad boy, Srini is close to Mother Nature and a poet whose poems & odes are always a joy to read. It was planning team's (Balaji, Srinath & Srini) idea to plant a few saplings. One of our juniors who happens to be a Conservator of Forests at Bannerghatta had arranged for us to collect saplings from the Forest Department office at Sakaleshpur. About 10 saplings, a mix of Pannerle and Honge, were procured and brought to the resort. Here's a picture of Srini planting the sapling, with lot of love and care. The resort staff were very supportive of our idea. We could plant three of eight, the remaining five were planted by the resort staff close to the resort entrance.

A few months later Srini sent a poetic message to Team Arohas asking them take care of our babies.

ಅರೋಹ ಗೆ ಒಂದು ಮನವಿ:

ನಾವು ನೆಟ್ಟಿರುವೆವು

ಎಂಟು ಸಸಿಗಳನ್ನ 

ಅರೋಹ ರೆಸಾರ್ಟ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ..

ಮರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಿ ಅವು 

ಅಷ್ಟ-ದಿಕ್ಕುಪಾಲಕರಂತೆ 

ಅರೋಹ ದ ಏಂಟೂ ದಿಕ್ಕೂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ!!

ರಶ್ಮಿ-ಸತೀಶರು 

ಬೆಳಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಆವು

ಖಂಡಿತ ಮರವಾಗುವವು..

ಪ್ರದೀಪ-ಭರತರು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ

ಸಹಜವಾಗಿ ನೆರಳ ಕೊಡುವವು!!

ಅದಕೆ ಬೇಕು 

ನಿಮ್ಮೊಲವಿನ ಪೋಷಣೆಯ 

ನೀರು-ಗೊಬ್ಬರ..

ಅದರ ಜೊತೆಗೊಂದಿಷ್ಟು

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೊಣೆತನದ ಸ್ವೀಕಾರ,

ಹಾಗು ಪ್ರೀತಿ-ಮಮತೆಯ

     ಮಮಕಾರ!!

ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಕೆ 

ಅವು ಎಂದೆಂದೂ ಶ್ವಾಸವಾಗುವವು..

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಋಣವ ತೀರಿಸಲು ಅವು ಹಣ್ಣುಹಂಪಲಿನ

ಸವಿ ನೀಡುವವು!!

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಸರೆಯಿಂದಲೇ

ಭದ್ರವಾಗುವುದು 

ಅವುಗಳ ಬೇರು.. 

ನೀವು ಬಯಸಿದಾಗ ನಿಮಗಾಗುವವು

ಅವು ಸೂರು!!

ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಂದಿರುವೆವು 

ನಿಮ್ಮಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನ..

ತಬ್ಬಲಿ ಮಾಡದೇ ಪೋಷಿಸಿ ಹಾರೈಸಿರಿ ಅವನ್ನ!!

Srini visited Arohas again in July 2022, this time for a family gathering. That's when the first and third pictures were taken, and the below printed poem was composed.

ನಮ್ಮ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿ ಪೋಷಿಸಿದ ಆರೋಹ ವೃಂದಕ್ಕೆ ವಂದಿಸುತ್ತ.. ಪ್ರೌಢವಸ್ಥೆ ತಲುಪಿರುವ ಗಿಡಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸುತ್ತ ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳ ಪದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. 

ಆಲಿಸಿ, ಆನಂದಿಸಿರಿ. 

ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆ: ನಾವು ನೆಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಸಸಿ..🌳 

ನಾವು ನೆಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಸಸಿ..

ಭುವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಬೇರು ಬಿಟ್ಟು     

ಗಿಡವಾಗಿ ಚಿಗುರಿರಲು, 

ನೋಡಲೆಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಖುಷಿ..

ನಾವು ನೆಟ್ಟ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಸಸಿ

ಭುವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಬೇರು ಬಿಟ್ಟು    

 ಗಿಡವಾಗಿ ಚಿಗುರಿರಲು,
